Up until now I’ve never really given cooking a fair shake. I’m competent in the kitchen in the sense that I know how an oven works and can cook basic dishes. But there comes a point when you’ve had enough boxes of Rice-A-Roni and KD and want something more. The extent of my abilities in the kitchen are combining odd ingredients in a grilled cheese and seeing how it tastes.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still a sucker for all of these foods I’ve mentioned, but I don’t want them to be my crowning achievements in the kitchen. The 20 Minute Chef will be my exploration of cooking from scratch, with 20 minutes of prep or less. Why 20 minutes? Because less prep time usually means a simpler recipe and I’m also a busy person. Part of my problem is that I thought cooking from scratch meant long prep times and complicated recipes. I’m going to learn to cook and show you (hopefully) how easy it is to do. This should be fun.
